Actually, Dan, since I have *JUST NOW* been able to successfully add a
private certificate to Mac IE, using the ability to import DER certificates
exported from WinIE, I think it is pretty obviously proven that the feature
you just stated as not existing does, in fact, exist in MacIE - just that it
has been kept well-hidden (for whatever reason). The fact that it exists,
and is functional, is, I believe, proof enough that omission of both
documenting it, as well as bringing it to the front, would very much appear
to have been arbitrary.

In fact, while I will admit to lack of familiarity with the development
process internal to the MBU, to activate this feature more fully would
appear to me to have been as easy(*) as simply adding an 'IMPORT' button to
the certificates window, calling the routine that currently already works,
and simply allowing the user to also select a DER certificate from their
desktop, instead of only activating when one is linked from.

(*) Yes, I know, 'easy' is a relative term, and most commonly used by those
who are unfamiliar with complex tasks.

Still, Dan, the point remains - the feature is there, the feature works, and
the feature is blindingly easy to use, once one is told how to make it work.
I am baffled, if not to say puzzled why getting to this information had to
be such an exercise of jumping through hoops - albeit I am certainly glad
that it is here, and functional.

It just took me all of 15 minutes to enable all of my critical sites with a
link to allow users to add this certificate - something I have been missing
and needing to do for a VERY long time - so, thanks to Jimmy for finally
lifting the veil...

Harry
