The number of Mac IE users who require this functionality at the moment
is very small. We target our features at our consumer customers who
don't have a lot of need for personal certs. As soon as Apple's market
share among business customers increases, we'll start adapting IE for
those customers.
As far as end users go, I think you'd have a hard time saying that they
would prefer WinIE to MacIE. I'm sorry it doesn't have all the features
you would like in the browser, but it seems to be just fine for several
million people who are happily using Mac IE 5.x now.

I am in the weird situation where I can access the secure sites of both
banks that I use using either browser, that of Telstra only by using
Netscape and that of my Credit Union only by using MSIE. It took over

months and lots of chivvying before the Credit Union finally made its

accessible at all for MacOS users. It appears that MSIE for Mac is to a
considerable extent Crippleware compared to the corresponding MSIE for
windows.
