On your Install CD that came with the 636, look in the Utilities folder, Disk Copy is in there. You could use that crossover cable you just made and network the iMac and the 636 and Install the Farallon driver while networked. I'm assuming that the Disk Copy image is mounted and chosen when you are asked which drive you want to mount on the 636.
Emailing just the app without compressing/binhexing it will strip it of its resource fork and wil make it a garbage file.
