I'd venture that only a small minority of people run it in mini-mode. I run it big because I'm an old fogey who still pines for album art, and because I'm constantly arranging playlists, etc. Others have their own reasons. I'll go out on a limb and say I actually prefer the new grey interface. I like a UI that fades into the background as much as possible (for the same reason Photoshop pros use a medium grey desktop).
