I've just spent 2 hours online, trying to preorder at the $10 price. I have been unable to get anything but the $29 price. Right on Apple's site, they say you can also purchase via telephone by calling 1800-myapple. But, when you call them, they are utterly worthless. They tell you they cannot take orders, and that you must purchase online, or fax them a copy of your order. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that that was not an option. Finally, I called my local store, to see if they could help. Fortunately, they're very nice folks, and the manager agreed to let me come in and pick it up in the store on Friday for the $10 price. However, I should never have had to work so hard to give Apple my money, even if it is just $10, especially given the high degree of user/customerfriendliness on which Apple prides itself. So, yes, there is a purpose to this message other than my rant. If you are a new user, and want to get the $10 price, my suggestion would be to just skep the whole online debacle, and just contact your store.
