Actually, I like flicking through them. Like I said, probably a subjective thing. It depends on what I want to do, too. the other thing I've done is put a lot of the relevant info on the clock face, such as battery info, activities, weather, and time. Makes the times when I have to either go to the home screen or go into glances much fewer.
