I changed verbosity to medium, but I still hear new line. Is there any way to
avoid hearing new line every time I move the cursor?
In reference to the delete key, I went to Utility, but I couldn’t find the text
tab.
Thank you,

1. Change your verbosity to medium. Press vo-v, left or right arrow to
verbosity level, and up or down arrow to medium. Press escape, space, or enter
to close.

2. Remember that the cursor works differently. It always lives between two
characters, and as you move it, VO reports what you're passing. Thus, pressing
left arrow speaks characters in reverse order, and your cursor lands to the
left of each character you pass. Right arrow goes the other way, and your
cursor lands to the right. Once you understand this setup, it really makes a
lot more sense than the Windows way of doing things, I think.

Yes, Quick Nav off solved the problem. But still I have 2 other problems that
I didn’t mention:
  1. What can I change to avoid hearing beginning of text, end of text and new
line?
  2. The delete key is a nightmare. When I want to erase some character, I
delete everything less what I want to delete. What should I change so when I
press the delete key I delete the character where the cursor is standing?
  Thank you,
  Rena

You may also want to check that Quick Nav is off. Press the left and right
arrows together; if you hear "Quick Nav on", press them again to turn it off.
When working with text, it's nearly always better to leave this feature off, so
that your navigation commands will work as expected.

    Hello Rena,

I’m assuming you’re talking about working in TextEdit. When you hear
“Ruler”, just do VO-Right Arrow then interact with the text. All your VO
commands should work fine after that.

    Cheers,

    Anne

      Hello,

When I open any document I hear the word ruler, even when I start a new
one. I can’t read or edit. If I move the right arrow besides saying ruler, I
hear word by word instead of letters. If I press the down arrow I hear new
line. It didn’t happen before. What can I do to be able to write, read and edit
without hearing ruler, and new line?
      Thank you,
      Rena
