Please, explain why you don't recommend any change with the delete key. I'm
new hear, and I strongly value knowledge and experience, and I'm willing to
learn.

The delete key deletes to the left of the cursor, and function-delete
deletes to the right. The only difference is in how VoiceOver handles the
cursor; it does so in a more accurate way, as I explained in my last
message. I don't recommend it, but you can disable this if you really want
to. Open the VoiceOver Utility, go to the Verbosity category, choose the
Text tab, and set the cursor behavior to "text to the right of the cursor"
instead of "text the cursor passes".

Does it mean that I can't change how the delete key works? My main
activity is writing and I find this extremely inconvenient.

2. The delete key is a nightmare. When I want to erase some character, I
delete everything less what I want to delete. What should I change so
when I
press the delete key I delete the character where the cursor is standing?
fn-delete (that is, press the delete key with the fn key held). This
deletes
the character to the right of the cursor.
If you select text by using the shift key in combination with cursor
movement
keys, then start typing, the selected text is replaced by whatever you
type -
that is, the selected text is deleted before the text that you enter is
inserted.
I'm sure this is all explained in OS X tutorials that you can read for
further
details.
