Scott, The next release of Windows 10 will have bash too. I don't know if it will have all the nix tools I am used to after 20 years of Sun work, but it is a start.
In terms of the original complaints, by default new Mac user accounts use the caps lock key as a alternative to the control-option pair thus reducing the keystrokes needed, also you can turn off the need to interact in the VoiceOver control panel, though I personally would never do that.
