Good IDEA E.T. most Macintosh computers can make their ethernet ports reverse polarity so that there is no need to use a router or hub just connect the ethernet between the two ports.
One can also transfer files using blue tooth though that is usually fairly slow. Another option might be Firewire and putting the Macintosh in “target disk mode”.
