As you can see there is no correct answer to this question, it depends on how
you expect to use the system. If you are primarily going to use MacOs, but want
to jump to Windows for a few non-intensive programs like word than you can
certainly work with the VM Environment. When you use a VM you have another
piece of software to maintain, but you will get access to being able to run
several different operating systems not just windows. If you run BootCamp and
have a newer Macintosh with one of the T1/T2 chips then you might have issues
with any non modern version of official Windows, as the boot system by default
checks that you are booting with an official Windows or MacOS.

I personally use VM but will have either only one MacOS program running besides
the VM or one Windows program running, and except for when Windows is doing
Virus scans or system updates I have no significant delays on either system.
Another distinct advantage of the VM environment is that you can enable copy
and paste to transfer across systems and even configure the OS to always start
your VM when you ask to open a word document.

If you are planning on doing video or sound editing on Windows I would suggest
you stick with bootcamp. Especially with hibernation modes and solid state
drives, booting an OS is no longer a five to 15 minute process.
