Okay so I've spent a few hours getting acquainted withmy MBP. I registered,
installed the latest updates and went through the VO tutorial.

I downloaded and installed Skype. Not quite sure how I pulled it off since I
couldn't seem to run it from my downloads folder, but I did get the license
agreement and filled in my userid. More over, when I checked for updates under
the Skype menu it indicated that I had the current version, so it must have
downloaded and installed?

This was the first app I attempted to use, so my questions are probably pretty
basic, but here goes:

1. How can I ascertain the status of contacts? I went into verbosity settings
(VO+V) but couldn't find any applicable options. I believe I recall Mac users
knowing which contacts were on as is possible with JFW, so I'm probably missing
something.

2. When I restarted, I can no longer locate Skype. I tried "applications"
(command+shift+a), the finder and the spotlight. Only the spotlight showed me
Skype but it appeared to only consist of the file I downloaded as well as
recently visited Skype pages from Safari history.

3. Back when I was able to run Skype I went through the options but could not
locate a way to place a test call. Perhaps the Mac has features rendering this
inapplicable, but I was curious whether this feature is not in the Mac version,
or perhaps I didn't look in the right place?

Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions, and best regards.
Geoff
