Hi Kevin, I get online and offline notifications via growl quite often. Are you using SKype's native notification or its Growl support? Another thing to keep in mind is that speech isn't currently able to handle multiple processes very well, there's a good chance something gets lost in the shuffle if multiple programs want to speak at once.
