Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, it's when I restore from iCloud or from a 
backup on my mac that is the problem. As the os is corrupted on my phone, 
restoring from a backup just puts the corruption straight back onto my phone 
again.

I literally have to start over and set the phone up as new.
