Comment (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):

using kernel 2.6.27-rc5 the 1 August 2008 snapshot driver lets the gnome
NetworkManager applet show the Atheros 5007EG as a cable network device
 (Wireless PCI Express Adapter).

The network settings identify ath0 as a wireless device and shows the
access points signal strengths correctly though.

Using the ath0 "cable network" connection is unsuccessful.

The 1/8/08 snapshot driver works great with the Ubuntu 8.04.1 kernel
though! It made me happily use my wifi connection on an Acer Aspire 5050.

If acpi was enabled at Ubuntu kernel boot on the Aspire 5050, the nm-
applet showed Wireless as possible but didn't find any access points.
 Disabling acpi solved the problem.

The 2.6.27-rc5 kernel has acpi enabled. While the driver makes detect the
hardware it is not presented as a wireless network adapter.

Just thought I let you know (I might try your "regular support channel" if
 I don't find a solution).

 Regards, Lars
