It definitely doesn't do it for IMAP unless you have configured it to sort/thread messages *and* your IMAP server doesn't support IMAP SORT/THREAD extension. My advice is to change the server, chances are it is less than optimal in toher areas too. In practice, however, all major IMAP servers do support those extensions so I wonder what do you use?
