 Yes, this is just the way the standard Windows control works: open the
explorer, select an item, press Ctrl-End, Space: both items are selected.

 Deleting normally is not catastrophic as you can always move the messages
back from trash.

 This would be a message box I'd personally disable after the first use, so
I don't see much sense in having it. Again, 'D' is not 'Ctrl-D', after all.

 BTW, there is the status bar pane showing the number of the selected
messages so you can quickly check how many of messages are going to be
affected -- but you have to remember to look at it, of course.
