 I don't think I can make this work... The (native) list control handles
PageUp/Down (with or without Ctrl) itself but I can't make it also react to
Alt-PageUp/Down [easily].

 Hmmm, well, there is also a message box before the expunge takes place. I
see your point but, OTOH, we shouldn't have too many message boxes neither,
even if they're all disablable. I've recently tested a fersh M install and
I was quite horrified but the number of the message boxes you see during
the first 3 minutes of using it. We should do something about this.

 The display of the number of selected messages in the status bar was added
relatively recently... You may simply not have it yet in your version.
