GNU/Linux is part of the mainstream.

As far as practical aspects are concerned, it is very important to
replace/remove the binary blobs in FOSS kernels (firmware blobs in BSD
kernels).  Open h/w is another important thing.

Debian with ~Libre kernel works fine on most desktops (of course, most
of the binary blobs are irrelevant for desktop users).

It makes sense to toughen our stand on this earlier position on ndas
