Google Groups acts like a listserver, so that's not a problem. I admin a couple of very small Google Groups, and my only significant complaint is that every now and then it thinks a genuine group message is spam, and holds it, notifying me of the hold.
Am concerned that if I have more than just a few members, that GG's spam holds of legitimate messages will get out of hand. Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions.
