As I'm not a Google Groups admin/user, so I don't know firsthand how it
works, but it is obvious they allow you to submit a list of addresses to
join to a group, and then those addresses get spammed, and with some of
the worst stuff. Even Google's AI offered unprompted that scammers love
to use it when I queried about it being a spam source just now.
Looking into the matter revealed that the way others deal with it is to
simply block all mail coming from Google Groups, which is what I've
done. I've had no user complaints, and it's been years now.
The way you block it is to reject on header: X-Google-Group-Id:
Anyway,... people should think twice about replacing Mailman with Google
Groups if they care about deliverability.

I've not seen this personally. How does this work? The spammers
create a group with you or addresses at your domain in it, and post
spam? What do you mean by "block on sight?" Ie, what attributes of
the mail do you filter on?
