What if you move the Mailplane folder away from Application Support, making sure MP is quit first. Start over basically. Does it go away? If so, and you are able, `diff` the files, see what happened, and report back here.
If you don't understand `diff` or the files are bindery, support may need to step in, assuming they are so inclined. I have so far been able to solve most any issue with this method. There are a few MP files hanging around that I can't figure out what they are for, and would like to know, but I suspect those will remain a mystery for the time being.
