Hi, Poping up a bit in the list this morning ;) Animated maps can be rendered using animated Gifs ... up to a point : for long time series, the document weight might be too high, or not precise enough (color and resolution) for practical communication. I would have a look at SVG (look in the archives, I'm sorry, but I've got too much work for doing the search myself, I posted several messages on the topic, as well as Franz-Josef Behr: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] , have a look at http://www.dbxgeomatics.com/svg.asp , http://www.landxml.com/ or type SVG in googgle !) SVG is a vector format, allows for dynamic behavior of objects (time based or user based), is very lightwieght, enables much much more interaction than GIFs, there's no concern with color resolution or pixel size (it's vector based !), can be embedded in powerpoint, can be embedded in html, can be database bound, and is an open format !
Worth having a look at ! Hey list developpers to your keyboards ! plenty of things todo with this. I'm back to mine, modelising fire growth and plume modelling in 3D (got plenty of smoke these days, unfortunately it's all vector, geometry and high math based based ;( Eric. > -----Message d'origine----- > De : [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]De la part de Marjorie > Roswell > Envoye : jeudi 11 octobre 2001 04:35 > A : Bill Thoen > Cc : Timothy M.
