I am in a similar bind. I live in VA, formerly a dead-red state but now having a Democrat government and, in this election, up for grabs. I have voted Green the last three elections (the closest thing to socialism on the VA ballot) and I have a hard enough time liking Harris much less Biden, while the Democrats just ditched single-payer and the public option from their platform, but a vote for Hawkins is, as you say, a vote for Trump here in VA and I am going to hold my nose and vote for Biden-Harris.
