Well, I can't force anyone to deal with arguments. But I think it should not be so difficult for the Lockdown supporters to deal with the following issues:

* The whole lockdown policy - an dramatic shift not seen in Western imperialist countries since 1945 - was justified by the claim that humanity is faced with an uprecedented and extremely dangerous pandemic. This, so goes the argument, justifies meassures (like lockdown, curfew for the popular masses etc.) which have never been used before for whole countries and which were usually not even part of pandemic emergency plans. Bear in mind when humanity faced pandemics, like in 1958-59 or in 1968, with 1 or 2 million death a year in the past (with a much smaller world population), societies never took such steps.

* We are no longer in March 2020 but 8 months later. We can now judge much better if COVID-19 is such an uprecedented and extremely dangerous pandemic or not.

* There is a broad agreement that countries use different (or unreliable) methods to count COVID-19 deaths. Hence the best approximation to the real danger of this pandemic is the total mortality. This is also usueful because it is known that lockdowns result in more death by other causes. In addition, many people (in lockdown countries) might die by other causes who would have died because of COVID-19 (in countries without lockdown).

* I referred to the official statistics of Sweden's total mortality which, to my knowledge, have never been disputed by anyone. So if these figures are accurate they proof that the COVID-19 pandemic is by far not as dangerous as the capitalist governments and media claim. If the Lockdown supporters (incl. those on this list) denounce Sweden approach to the pandemic as totally irresponsible, than our opposition to the Lockdown policy is even more confirmed. Because this shows that even with a "bad" approach to the pandemic, there is no or no significant excess mortality!

* It would be interesting to see the development of total mortality in other countries. Joseph Green referred positively to Denmark, Norway and New Zealand. Do you (or others) know about the development of total mortality in these countries? I know that in Austria and Germany there has been only a slightly higher mortality in the first 39 weeks of this year (Austria +2,9%, Germany similar).

* Probably it is difficult for you to find out the total mortality statistics for Scandinavian countries (for language reasons). But at least you should be able to find out the relevant statistics for "your" countries, i.e. the U.S. and Australia. Please inform us about these.

I hope such an approach can help to have a rational debate on this issue.

"RKOB" says that the issue is how many people have died from COVID-19. Well,
according to the very source it cites,
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-mill
ion-inhabitants/
the deaths per million in the last 7 days from COVID-19 are:

Sweden: 13.81
Denmark: 2.23
Norway: 1.68

New Zealand: 0

As for deaths total per million from COVID-19, it's

Sweden: 599.29
Denmark: 130.62
Norway: 54.97.

New Zealand: 5.08

Comparing Sweden to other Scandinavian countries might seem a better start for
comparisons than just picking countries at random. And that strongly suggests
Sweden has a problem.

As far as other countries, one should analyze what countries have done, how
their medical system works, etc, beyond the bare assertion that they are
lockdown countries, if one wants a serious analysis of their results. So I
include
New Zealand as another lockdown country just to underline that point and
encourage more care in comparison, because if one wants to simpy talk about
lockdown countries in general, there's also NZ and some other countries of note.

What a silly nonsense! The issue is not how many people are
inffected but how many people die!
Sweden has much lower dead figures than draconic lockdown countries
like Italy, Spain, UK and
France (See
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-world
wide-per-million-inhabitants/)
And all in all, Sweden has no excess mortality this year compared
with the past years as everyone
can check him/herself! (See

tality)
It is really embarrasing that there are still people praising the
lockdown policy when it is so obvious
that it isn't superior at all!
