I was in Houston in the 1970s when the KKK was terrorizing the left. Bombed our HQ and the Pacifica station. Fired a machine gun through the windows of one of our comrades. Picketed outside our new HQ in robes, carrying M-16s. Every time they acted, we lodged a formal complaint with the police department even though we knew they were in cahoots. By building a civil liberties campaign that put pressure on the liberal elite in Houston, we were finally able to shut down the KKK.
