I know this is SOMEWHAT off the subject for a Marxmail list -- having to do with BOurgeois Economics --- but one of the great mysteries to me was WHY the "party of the people" (HA!) the Democrats so quickly embraced "fiscal responsibility" in the demonization of deficits ---
The Keynesian revolution created the wherewithal for the capitalists to shave off the rough edges of the capitalist business cycle and the main tool, deficit spending has been DEMONIZED ever since --- the right wing had an argument but why did the left wing of the capitalist policy adopt the same ignorant (often dishonest) messaging ... This is not a rhetorical question -- it somewhat puzzles me --- Biden seems to be the first Democrat since FDR (who originally ran AGAINST HOover's deficits) to embrace what left wing economists have called FISCAL FINANCE (deficits when needed, QED) ....
