Guessing ("suspect"ing) what Lenin would have said had he lived is mere
rhetoric. Lenin exposed Kant, Mach, and Frank for their subjective idealist
philosophy, which opens the way to pragmatism among other things.

"Frank avoids grounding science in philosophical categories, he is not refusing
to distill knowledge into theory, but is insisting, against both Kantian
apriorism and metaphysical materialism..." Your "metaphysical" materialism is
just a label used to reject Lenin's definition, "Matter is a philosophical
category denoting the objective reality which is given to man by his
sensations, and which is copied, photographed and reflected by our sensations,
while existing independently of them." (CW 14, p. 130) Yes, matter is
meta-sensory; that is what you denigrate as meta-physical.

It is the same maneuver when you speak of Frank's "refusal to ground science in
explicit ontological definitions." The ontology here is objective reality
independent of our sensations. Materialists recognize that ontology, and
Frank's refusal is anti-materialist.
