The original issue was China's swelling exports and trade surpluses over many
countries. Now you veer, with an unerring eye for the dubious, to the views of
Michael Roberts (who among his other activities has given fluff interviews to
Chinese media) and Minqi Li about imperialism.

As far as the economic basis goes, Lenin's analysis of how monopoly capitalism
pushes capitals to look around the globe for markets and for secure supplies of
raw materials remains valid. Furthermore, Lenin recognized that various
countries were both exporters of capital to some areas and subordinate
importers of goods and capital from bigger powers.

The contradiction is fierce between the U.S., an established but decaying
economic power with a military that can no longer dominate all areas of
economic interest, and monopoly capitalist China, an expanding economic power
that is building up its naval power and already bullying the Philippines,
Vietnam, and other Asian transgressors of its "10-dash line."
