Yes, there was a struggle between two paths in China and in the other CP's, but
it wasn't ideology ("ideas") which decided the issue but historical
circumstances. “Men (and women) make their own history, but they do not make it
as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but
under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past."
