CC Odin just in case there is a parsing error with the return string.
It looks like you've got an incompatible ident return string. I've had
problems with some Windows Ident clients.
For example, if I try and use WinIdent 1.0
http://members.xoom.com/LukeReeves/ I'll see the parse error (the program
does return quickly, but oidentd displays "Timeout for request. Closing
connection." in /var/log/messages)
If I use Visual IRC'97 1.00 (internal ident server)
http://www.megalith.co.uk/virc/ the request is returned properly. Turtle
Identd 2.12 http://www.dnc.net/users/collver/t-identd.htm is also
successful.
It always works properly if oidentd is running on a masq'd linux machine.
I've heard complaints about some copies of pidentd (hacked?) not working but
I haven't seen it myself.
Hope this helps,
Lourdes
