Tobias,

I thought I asked this before, but apparently not. Is it possible to install
Matterhorn and not have it install FFMpeg? We would then use the FFMpeg 0.8.2
install that is already present.

I don't want to overwrite the 0.8.2 install in the process of installing
Matterhorn…

Thanks!

Subject: Re: [Matterhorn-users] Running a newer version of ffmpeg w/Matterhorn?

Hi Steven,

Rüdiger Rolf updated ffmpeg in the third party installation script in trunk to
0.8.2. I gave the updated toolchain a try (changed the options that Rüdiger
mentioned in his e-mail that need to change (-strict inofficial) first) and
everything looks good.

So what you want to do is checkout the current trunk version and run the third
party scripts from /docs/scripts/3rdparty. Adjust the encoding profiles (change
"inofficial" to "unofficial") and you should be good to go. No need to switch
Matterhorn itself to trunk. It would be great if you could share your
experiences on list, possibly including your encoding profiles if you find them
worth sharing.

Hi all,

We doing some custom workflow work here to add Matterhorn-recorded material to
our home-grown media space system. To take advantage of newer capabilities,
we're using a newer version of ffmpeg that the one that is shipping with
Matterhorn.

Is there any reason why the newer version of ffmpeg won't work, or will cause
problems?

Please let us know your thoughts…

Thank you!
