To clarify, check out the code from the 1.2.0 tag. Then also check out the
trunk code for the 3rd party tools?

Build the 1.2.0 code as a normal deployTo, but add the -DskipTests. Then
build the 3rd party trunk tools as well?

I think I'm missing a couple of steps here...
