I don't like using filters, it slows up the mail download too much on either
program, and my volume of mail doesn't justify the effort.  With YAM showing
the return address, I don't need filters.  Just a matter of taste, I guess.

This is true, and knowing about the menu command solves the problem for me. 
The mail download manager was the biggest step forward as far as I'm
concerned, and it puts MDII very close to YAM, as I can now delete mail with
it before I download.  Ollie is getting closer and closer.  I had to use
Microdot on my wife's computer for a week while mine was in the shop, and I
found it quite easy to use for mail as well as news, except for the two
issues I raised, one of which (reply) has been solved.
