1) The main difference is that the surface of the floppy is touched each time
the floppy is read/written. The read/write side of the MD is never touched!!!
(The other side doesn't contain data but makes contact with the magnetic head!)
Thus a floppy is more prone to wear.
2) A floppy is magnetic, an MD is MO. It's almost impossible to destroy an MD
with magnet (compared with a tape or a floppy disc). Floppy however don't like
magnets...
