>From auto parts to computer and audio products, I've NEVER had a problem
getting an item replaced under a lifetime guarantee no matter how old
the item is or how it broke. Some items require you to have proof that
you are the original purchaser, but keeping a receipt is no big deal.
I had a couple of ancient Lifetime warranted Sony cassette tapes once.
Probably about 15 years old at the time. By no fault of the tapes
themselves, one of my recorders broke a belt and chewed up the tapes. I
returned them to Sony and they replaced them with brand new blank
cassettes from their current lineup. They were all CrO2 cassettes and
Sony replaced them with new CrO2 cassettes. I have also taken up MAXELL
and MEMOREX on their lifetime warranties, because I would try tapes in
questionable players that people gave me. So far, no company that I've
dealt with has failed to honor their lifetime guarantee.
I don't know about the UK, but in the US, my experience is a lifetime
warranty means just that. They will replace the item for free as long
as you still own it, and you're still alive.
