I know, I've got a DVD player. However, most DVD players that ship right now,
support
the reading and transmitting of DTS. But they leave the decoding to a seperat
amplifier.
Dolby Digital is 5 channel full spectrum (using a compression algorithm) with
one
special channel for the basses. Dolby Surround, is 2 channel stereo + 1 channel
front and 1 channel right back/lef back.
DTS stands for Digital Theatre Sound and should approach the sound of a cinema
even
further. THX is a quality standard for the whole system and you can play a Dobly
Digital DVD on a THX certified installation and the whole thing stays THX.
