That is correct.  But the standards that have to be met are very specific.  I have
heard THX DVDs.

Yes I was referring to Dolby Pro Logic.

THX is Lucus's bag.  DTS is Spielberg's.  But of course it is possible to be both.

Yes DTS stands for Digital Theater Sound.  The D is not for Dolby.  And the S does
not stand for Spielberg or Steven.  I'm told that eventually all DVDs will be
released in Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby digital and DTS.  Right now it is kind of hard
to find DTS encoded DVDs if you are just shopping around and not looking to special
order it.  But that is supposed to change.  At this point there are loads of folks
with plain old Dolby Pro Logic.  So they can't dump that for a while.

More and more people have Dolby Digital and DTS is something that most people who
do not have more then a passing interest in Audio, know nothing about.

But I still think that Dolby Digital does not have the frequency response for the
rear speaker that it has for the front.
