thanks Tom, that helps a lot -----Original Message----- From: Tom Silver [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2006 11:05 AM To: McBride, Ronald Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Micromedex vs First DataBank **FDB Questions**: Do you have any of the above issues with FDB?? Buffer issue, I have not experienced a problem. We have had a few runs that get hung up on a particular drug. The update ties up a Meditech connection on a PC until it is complete. (all of the pharmacists are able to have 2 active Meditech connections at one time). ***************************************************************************************** We have not had the issue with duplicates not flagging or interaction checking not working on IV's, however, I am not sure if order entry personnel would be able to tell? I do not understand why they tell you to delete the old run, when we first went live in 2002, we were told to leave 2 old runs out there just in case your current run is corrupted, unable to file etc. *************************************************************************************** How long does it take to upload First Data Bank formulary service into Meditech from start to finish? I have just started doing the runs myself, I have not timed them, but I believe it is 1-2 hours I will ask our IS person how long it normally takes. **************************************************************************************** What issues exist for Magic 5.5 and First Data Bank, if any? The only issue we currently have is the new allergy checking with the new DAM module with FDB, It is supposed to be tied to NDC# and also lives in the MIS allergy dictionary, so that all modules will be able to check allergies. It is currently NOT working in TEST. ******************************************************************************************** thanks for your time Ron McBride RN Clinical Analyst Meditech Workgroup Rapid City Regional Hospital 353 Fairmont Blvd Rapid City, SD 57701 Phone: 605-719-8032 Fax: 605-719-4693 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: Tom Silver [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2006 8:35 AM To: McBride, Ronald Subject: Re: [MEDITECH-L] Micromedex vs First DataBank We are Magic 5.5.1 We have First Data Bank, and have had no real issues. We have had a couple of CD's that wouldn't load, but just call FDB and they sent us another. We do quarterly price updates and the only real issues are on the Meditech side only because of the way the drug is built. We run a Price update comparison and download to excel to review BEFORE we run the update. Because of this, we have several items we have price protected so the prices do NOT automatically change. Since we figured out the INGREDIENT allergy coding in Meditech, our DACN module from FDB is working. We do NOT have the DAM module for allergy checking working in TEST yet, we went LIVE with 5.5 WITHOUT the new allergy checking working. Of course the DOSE CHECKING does not work to our satisfaction, so we are not using it. Any further questions you might have, I would be glad to answer tom Tom Silver Clinical Staff Pharmacist Howard Community Hospital Phone (765)-453-8524 fax (765)-864-6707 Main Pharmacy phone (765)-453-8433 Main Pharmacy fax (765)-453-8141 No trees were killed in the sending of this message.
