thanks Bob! that helps a lot -----Original Message----- From: Koch, Bob [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2006 11:47 AM To: McBride, Ronald Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Micromedex vs First DataBank Hi Ron, Thank you for the reply and answers to my questions. Here are the answers to your questions: **FDB Questions**: Do you have any of the above issues with FDB?? No. None that I am aware of. How long does it take to upload First Data Bank formulary service into Meditech from start to finish? The load takes about 3 1/2 hours. What issues exist for Magic and First Data Bank, if any? If anything the Dose Range checking doesn't work well but I'm not sure that is strictly a FDB issue. Otherwise we haven't had any issues. Have a great weekend Ron. We did not get any warning or any indication that the upload did not complete properly nor do we have any way to determine if all the filesuploaded successfully. We now have DTS that has fixed this. We have had issues with duplicates not flagging and interaction checking on IV's not working. The recommended updating process of Micromedex from Meditech leaves the Pharmacy without interaction checking for the majority of the hours it takes to upload and file . Meditech recommends deleting the old run as the first step to the formulary upload process and it should not affect interaction checking. The fact is that it indeed does leave the pharmacy without interaction checking. We have changed this process so they are without interaction checking only for a brief period by never deleting the run files. We use FDB and have been very pleased. We receive a CD monthly to load and it works very well. We have not had any complaints with FDB. Except for the price. They are more then double the cost of the quote we had from Micromedex. So we have been thinking about changing to Micromedex since we also use the Micromedex Care notes, Monographs, etc, and they are now coming out with Order Sets for CPOE. So I was wondering if you would share with me the issues and experiences you have had with Micromedex. If you have any specific questions related to FDB please let me know. Thanks Ron and have a great weekend.
