======================================

We started with the Enter Med process, but after a few months it was a
bit more cumbersome than we anticipated. One of the largest problems
was the workload shift. For example, the morning nurses had to
acknowledge all the orders from the evening, after pharmacy had entered
and/or verified them. This also caused some problems when nursing was
signing off on the orders.

After much thought and research we decided to go virtual. We have
contracted with an outside company to continue entering orders after
hours. We have not started this new system yet, as the start
up/planning/training period has been longer than anticipated.

I am not sure how it will work, but nursing is looking forward to having
24 hour pharmacy coverage (even virtually).
