Hi, Gary,

A lot depends on how the relationship is between NUR and IT, but in my
previous small hospital, the original single clinical analyst was in IT.
After her duties grew and grew (what a surprise!), another position was
created in NUR for an Informatics person that focused on NUR. The NUR
VP would not give up that position, regardless of what the duties were.
(She'd lost one good nurse to IT and wasn't about to do that again - her
words.) OE, PCI and NPR are considered IT responsibilities. There is
still a lot of cross-over obviously; just look at Meditech's
integration.

Considering the potential global use of OE, that alone makes it an IT
position, in my opinion. Considering the hugely global use of NPR, a
position such as you describe couldn't function properly under NUR.
Again, my opinion.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Can Clinical Analyst Report to Nursing Dept.?

In a small hospital that only has one Clinical Analyst......could that
Clinical Analyst (that is in charge of the NUR, OE, PCI and NPR modules)
report to the Nursing Department.....or....do they need to be in the IT
Department?

Thanks,
