I don't think there has been any announcement one way or the other about their 
medium term plans for “Meego on n900”, has there?  The immediate plans are 
clearly only for developers.

I was just pointing out my take on the implication of the currently described 
plans.  Of course, if Nokia decided they did want to support users there 
would be nothing to stop them doing additional work to support a fully 
installed MeeGo configuration (but it would probably still have the /opt 
problem, or be noticeably slower).
