I tend to discourage direct IMAP access anyway -- as a general rule, I
don't like trusting users with passwords. I prefer users to access their
mailboxes over SSH instead (ssh $mailserver dovecot --exec-mail imap).

If there's _any_ way out of your local network, SSH can usually be
configured to cope (using corkscrew, etc.).
