To continue this digression, does anyone else agree that Apple has set
the boolean usability world back 10 years with these ridiculous
sliders? They're cloned everywhere; I'm seeing them on web sites now too.

The translation issue and the "Wait, is that the current state or the
new one?!" problems are serious. This thing takes a lot of screen
real estate for a single bit of information (and it still requires
some kind of label to explain it). The physical usage mechanic (a tap)
doesn't match the animation (it slides!). Ugh.

Seriously, what was wrong with the checkbox?

I'm hoping there's some magic a UX expert can explain that makes this
all worthwhile.
