Where are these credits for one person visible? ChangeLogs?
Somewhere else? Any examples (URLs) of existing practice?
Same with "some statistics" that you wrote earlier.
Where are these statistics currently visible for me?
Or are they just for some internal usage?

That's the worst that you can do as it creates mistrust and
intransparency...

I agree that decisions do not have to be made in public for topics that
imply confidentiality.
However default policy in an open source upstream project MUST be to
discuss non-confidential stuff in public *before* deploying it.

You can avoid such "unfriendlyness" in the future by discussing the
addition of a field in public BEFORE somebody actually starts using
it. ;-)
