The ignition module in the distributor will 9 times out 10 be the problem.
I ended up replacing 4 of the them mind you they were second hand out of
complete distributors at $250.00 per go. I am sure that the auto
electricians amongst us could fill you in further but apparently the 'paste'
between the module and distributor plays an important part, maybe as a
conductor? I will leave that up to our esteemed colleagues.
I ended up replacing mine with a FJ distributor modified the shaft and have
run four plugs ever since.
With respect to computers, although I have Motec if I knew then what I know
now, Wolf 3d would be the go.

Subject: ignition module.
Guys,
my car did decide to shit itself today whilest high rev changing from
2nd-3rd in front of some v8 fans standing beside their car.(embarrasing)
Engine is a standard Z-18 with factory comp.
Diagnosis is between the following parts as the ignition functions, all
electricals, work starter motor works but produces no spark and no EFI.
Ignition module which i have already removed and the computer which was
replaced 3 months ago from a blown one to a good standard one(hard to find).
My question is does anyone have a Z-18 which they may have a spare ignition
module as my friendly Repco dealer said new they are worth $270 and have to
be ordered specially from Adelaide.
Bugger that when it may or may not be the problem.
Sso if anyone does have one or an idea on where to get one there input is
much appreciated.
Further to that is if the module is not the problem then its the comp. and a
replacement is in order.
I've looked at an MT8 (microtech) is this the way to go or does anyone have
some suggestions. (Limited budget)
Sorry for the longwinded drawn out story>>>:)
Thanks in advance
Simon
