Jon thats interesting as I dont run one on my CA18det in my 1972 1200 coupe
it had to pass an imissions test to get regoed but no menchin of Cat converter
I run it on super anyway as it runs better soon to be running on optimax. If
I had to run cat It wouldnt be a prob dont think a good desighned one would
loose much power. Andrew Jon Ovington wrote: Every conversion I know of, using an engine that had a cat on the end of it in the original car, whether the car the motor is going into originally had a cat or not, has a cat. No motor, that originally had a cat on it, can be run without one, no matter what the car is, dates ect. This is RTA spec, it is however not required by engineers (as far as I know) to get your vehicle engineered, because the certificate is only used as a basis by the RTA that your vehicle is sound and road worthy, the certificate does not give your vehicle direct permission to be on the road. Thus, RTA regulation, it has to be done. Engineers CAN NOT say you don't need one, UNLESS the engine did not originally had one. This is just from memory and as far as I know correct, this is also for NSW only, wouldn't know any other state, anyone else know of otherwise?
