Mmmmmmmm, OK... Thanks.
I didn't want to take the rocker cover off if I could help
it.
I wonder what the
missers will say when she finds her broom has been shortened... :) Maybe I
could say it was a performance mod... :)
Geordie, Take the plugs out of the
engine and put a clean piece of wooden rod (old broom handle cut off etc,) on
top of the plug hole and press down As you turn the engine over if on
compression stroke you will hear compressed air escaping between the dowel and
the plug seat. Cheers Feral Errol ---------- From: Geordie Smith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To:

Sorry if I appear dumb, but what sort of engine are you using
this home-made job on? I am interested in finding out more from you
about this, I have just bought a microtech EMS and am going to hook it up
to my SR20t tonight. It appears to be a very simple system as far as
wiring, but the software appears quite detailed..
Another thing is
that when I got the engine the Crank Angle Sensor was removed. I believe
that to install it is similar to a Dizzy, you put the motor on TDC#1,
install the dizzy/CAS with TDC1 mark or rotor posi lined up with the
sensor/#1 pickup, and then offset it by the timing angle, ie 10deg or 8 deg
or 15deg whatever is required?
Is that the correct method?
Also,
if that is so, then how do I know I've got TDC on #1 and not #3? Do I have
to pull the rocker cover off and check which one has both sets of valves
closed?
If anybody on the list knows any of these answers I'd
appreciate it... Maybe Pete knows?

Just a little update
on the home made engine management system for anyone interested.
The
ignition part of the system works now – I was up most of the night with the
system plugged into the back of my computer throwing sparks all over
the joint. Great stuff – really wakes you up ! All that’s left
now is to mount the crank angle sensor and it all should work. It’s
actually quite amazing how much stronger the spark is compared to the old
dizzy setup.
The Fuel injection system is coming along as well – I
obtained some old Webers which I’m going to use as throttle bodies.
All I need now is to construct an EFI manifold which has inch and a
half exit ports to mate with my
head.
Jeff
