Hey Chris,
The series II Bluebird was released in 1983 (I think!) and came
factory with a Bosch reluctor type electronic distributor with built in auto
dwel 016 type coil ignitor. Basically it made a noticable difference through
out the rev range....especially low end torque. I paid around $120 for it
about 6 years ago but I made sure I got the original coil with it. (very
important since it looks just like a standard points type coil) As far as
the cam is concerned, I can't quite remember its specs, but yes, it was a
slightly bigger cam with more lift. As far as tuning was concerned, the
webber 32/36 was a mongrel of a carbie as far as remembering what you taught
it! It would run perfectly one day, and like a dog on another. I could rev
it to around 5500 with the webber before fuel delivery became an issue. The
engine is the original unit and has done around 285000 kms, due for rest
soon though. I think I may go for an L20...but I'll have to think about it
since there are really so many import engine options open to datto owners
these days.
George
